Ishpeming – A busted water main flooded Ishpeming on Saturday. Mother Nature’s frigid grip ruptured a 12 inch water main spreading 250,000 gallons over four downtown blocks. Public works crews in Ishpeming were expected to work until the early morning to repair the water main which burst in front of the high school.

Marquette – The Peter White Public Library has acquired the bell collection of the late Mrs. F.B. Spear of Marquette. It is undoubtedly the largest collection of its kind in the Upper Peninsula. The collection of more than 600 bells was left to the library in the will of Mrs. Spear and was recently accepted by the library’s board of trustees. Some of the more unusual items from the collection are now on display in the main library room. In addition to the extensive bell collection, Mrs. Spear willed to the library a large number of books and other publications pertaining to bells.
