Scholarship recipients announced
ESCANABA – Full-time faculty members of the Michigan Education Association at Bay College have announced the recipients of their annual Faculty Association Scholarship award. Established with the Bay College Foundation, the scholarship recognizes both the academic achievement and unmet financial need of current Bay College students. The fund provides two scholarships at $500 each.
This year’s recipients include Keaton Krouth of the Escanaba campus and an Iron Mountain campus student who has chosen to remain anonymous.
Keaton Krouth is pursuing an associate’s degree in nursing with the goal of becoming a registered nurse. Inspired by a family member working in the healthcare field, he developed an early passion for helping others and strengthening his clinical skills. After earning his certified nurse aide certification, his commitment to nursing only grew stronger.
“This scholarship will impact my time at Bay College in many ways, but most importantly it will allow me to reduce my work hours so I can focus more fully on my studies,” Keaton shared. “I am extremely thankful for this scholarship and the financial support it provides as I work through the nursing program. By dedicating more time and energy to my classes, I can better prepare for my future as a registered nurse.”
After graduation, Keaton plans to transition from his current CNA role into a registered nursing position at a local nursing home, with long-term goals of working in a hospital setting and potentially exploring travel nursing opportunities.
The second recipient, an Iron Mountain campus student expressed a deep appreciation for the support.
“Receiving this scholarship means so much to me,” the student shared. “It eases financial stress and allows me to remain focused on my education and future goals. I am incredibly thankful to the faculty for their investment in students like me.”
