ISHPEMING — The Marquette Area Blues Society is presenting a special evening of world-class blues with award-winning guitarist and vocalist D.K. Harrell and his band at The Mather at 107 E. Canda in Ishpeming at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13.

The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with a special set from the Flat Broke Blues Band, followed by Harrell and his five-piece band for an unforgettable night of music.

Tickets are available at The Mather in Ishpeming and at Marquette Wallpaper & Paint in Marquette.

Harrell is one of the most formidable young stars on the current blues scene, with stinging, single-note string bending, deep soul vocals, and attention-grabbing original songs. He is a major draw at blues festivals around the world and now, with his Alligator Records debut album, Talkin’ Heavy, he has cemented his place among the leading voices of the new generation of the blues.

A true master of the music, the 27-year-old’s new album is nominated for Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Blues Album and Harrell is nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Artist in the 2026 Blues Music Awards by the Blues Foundation.

Harrell has won the B.B. King Of The Blues Award for Preserving Traditional Blues Heritage from the Jus’ Blues Music Foundation and the prestigious Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist from The Blues Foundation.  His star is continuing to rise with a reputation as a live performer with fresh, emotion-packed blues played with the foot pounding fervor of a revival tent preacher.

Blues Society Board President April Lindala says, “We are truly excited to bring D.K. to our area and to showcase him in such a great venue at The Mather! He is one of the hottest stars in the blues world right now and we want everyone come out to see and hear what I’m talking about! People have been waiting for the Blues Society to bring in some music, and the wait is over. We couldn’t be happier to be hosting D.K. and his top-notch talents!”
