House fire reported in Humboldt Township

HUMBOLDT — At approximately 8 p.m. Friday night, the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department got paged to a house fire off of County Road FX. No injuries were reported=.

“What I understand is the owner of the house had to run to Ishpeming, and when she came back her house was fully engulfed in flames,” said a representative from the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department. “By the time she called it in and we arrived, the roof was already gone. There were just a couple walls standing.”

“I’m 67, and that house was there when I was a kid,” said Jeff Ogea, Humboldt Township Supervisor. “It’s kind of a Humboldt landmark. It’s sad, but at least nobody was injured.”

“There was nobody in the house; the page we got said there was a possible pet,” said the fire department representative. “We had three (fire) trucks. Ishpeming Township came in with a (fire) truck, Champion came in with a (fire) truck. We put it out.”
