Baraga County Trails in Motion Hosts “Share the Trail” winter events Feb. 22
L’ANSE — Baraga County Trails In Motion will host two free, public winter recreation events on Sunday, Feb. 22, encouraging residents of all ages to get outside and enjoy local trails together.
The first event begins at 2 p.m. at the Pinery Lakes Trail, where Mark Roberts and members of the Keweenaw Hiking and Skiing Society will lead a relaxed ski and snowshoe outing. The event follows a “share the trail” theme and welcomes participants of varying experience levels. Coffee, hot chocolate, water, and cookies will be provided.
From 1-4 p.m., Down Wind Sports of Houghton will sponsor a winter demonstration day at the football field at Meadowbrook. Participants can try cross-country skiing and snowshoeing using demo equipment supplied by Down Wind Sports, including skis, boots, poles, and snowshoes.
The event is geared toward families, kids, beginners, and anyone curious about winter sports. Meadowbrook Arena will be open for restrooms and warm-up space. Coffee, hot chocolate, water, and cookies will be provided. Let’s make Demo Day the perfect place to gather and enjoy a winter day.
Both events are free and open to the public. Friends and family are welcome. Bring them along and help spread the word by sharing this event.
