VA center recognized

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain has been ranked first nationally by the VA’s National Homeless Program Office for placing homeless veterans in permanent housing.

Serving 15 Upper Peninsula counties, the Iron Mountain team set a fiscal year 2025 goal of housing 51 veterans and instead placed 108, reaching 212% of its target. VA leaders credit the Homeless Prevention team and partners such as Supportive Services for Veteran Families and the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress.

More veterans in safe, stable homes across a large rural service area is an achievement that is making a positive impact in not only the veteran community, but our community at large.

Starting at $3.23/week.
