Movie will detail rescue effort
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Maritime Museum’s February Maritime History on Tap is at the Ore Dock Brewing Company at 7 p.m. Feb. 3. Join organizers for a showing of the movie, “The Finest Hours,” based on the true story of one of the most dangerous and daring rescue attempts in U.S. Coast Guard history.
In 1952, a Cape Cod coast guard crew set out in a 36-foot motor lifeboat during a brutal storm to rescue the crew of the Pendleton T2 oil tanker. Movie screening includes intermission and discussion of Coast Guard 36-foot motor lifeboat.
Tickets are $5 at the door, sponsored, in part, by WE Energies and the Ore Dock Brewing Company.
