Father Marquette statue cleaning set
MARQUETTE — Annual maintenance of the Father Marquette Statue, located in Father Marquette Park (501 S. Front St.), began this week. The work will include thorough cleaning and protective waxing of the bronze sculpture to preserve its condition against the elements.
During the maintenance period, temporary scaffolding will be in place around the statue for the safety of both the public and the conservation crew. The site will remain open, but visitors are asked to use caution and respect posted signage.
This annual preservation effort is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining its public art collection and is funded through the city of Marquette Public Art Fund.
