Marquette group to perform at Crystal Theatre
CRYSTAL FALLS — The Make-Believe Spurs bring sounds of alternative folk and Americana music to Crystal Theatre at 7 p.m. CDT or 8 p.m. EST. Saturday, Sept. 13.
Based in Marquette, the trio draws inspiration from artists like Chris Stapleton, the Grateful Dead, John Prine, Tyler Childers and Natihaniel Rateliff. Their sound ranges from intimate harmonies to electric performances that tempt audiences to get up and dance.
Playing nearly 200 shows a year, the group has performed at a variety of regional venues including Northern Michigan University, Bay College, Cedar Point, the Black Squirrel Bluegrass and Americana Festival and the Hiawatha Music Co-Op.
Guitarist/vocalist Brian Wallen is a second place winner of the International Blues Challenge and Molly Wallen is a classically trained vocalist with a background in opera. Drummer/vocalist Mavis Farr honed her craft in West African drums and percussion at Oakland University.
