City to host finnish delegation this upcoming fall
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Area Sister Cities Partnership, in association with the city of Marquette, will be hosting a delegation of eight individuals from Kajaani, Finland in November.
The Sister City program with Kajaani was started in 1997 and focuses on promoting cultural understanding, international friendship and the sharing of ideas.
A presentation by the Kajaani delegation and the MASCP will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the Community Room at the Peter White Public Library, which is located at 217 N. Front St., Marquette. The presentation is free and open to the public for anyone to come learn about Kajaani and the MASCP.
The delegation will be in the Marquette area from Nov. 7-13. While they visit, some of the delegates will stay with a host family and visit their host family’s favorite places and sites of interest in the Marquette area.
There are two different hosting opportunities for families who may be interested:
≤ Hosts who can provide a delegate with overnight accommodations, breakfasts and dinners and drop them off and pick them up from meeting locations during their stay. Lunch and daily activities will be provided by the MASCP.
≤ Hosts who are willing to provide dinners for four days of the delegation’s visit.
Both hosting opportunities also include one day of free time to spend with the delegate.
If you are interested in being a host to a delegate from Kajaani during their stay, please contact Randy Jensen at 906-250-2788 or Maureen Jensen at 906-250-4975 for an application.
The MASCP is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is 100% volunteer driven, and donations are graciously accepted and appreciated.
