MARQUETTE — U.P. Health System-Marquette has earned a three-year accreditation in computed tomography from the American College of Radiology, following their last accreditation in 2022.
The voluntary process evaluates facilities based on national standards for image quality and patient safety. Areas assessed include image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment adequacy, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
CT imaging, also known as the CAT scan, is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses x-rays and computer technology to produce detailed, cross-sectional images of the body. Those images help healthcare providers visualize internal organs, bones, soft tissues and blood vessels to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
ACR gold seal accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It’s awarded to facilities that meet ACR practice parameters and technical standards following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists.
“At UPHS-Marquette, we remain deeply committed to delivering high-quality imaging services and compassionate care to our patients,” said Tonya Darner, CEO of UPHS-Marquette, in a press release on Monday. “This reaccreditation reflects the expertise, hard work and ongoing dedication of our team to advancing care for the communities we serve.”
UPHS-Marquette offers diagnostic imaging services including 3D mammography, 3D ultrasound, 64-slice CT scanning, digital x-ray, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, wide-bore MRI and stereotactic breast biopsy. All studies are performed by skilled technologists and interpreted by board-certified radiologists on the UPHS – Marquette medical staff.
The hospital also offers a variety of image-guided interventional procedures in collaboration with radiologists such as:
• Fluid aspirations
• Needle biopsies of the breast, liver, lung, bone, thyroid and prostate
