ISHPEMING — More than 3,000 baseball fans assembled at the Gas House diamond Wednesday evening to witness the only game in the Ishpeming league scheduled between the National Mine and Fallen Oilers, originally the Nebraska’s, rivals for leadership when the league started. The contest was one of the most thrilling of the season and several records were broken, including attendance second the number of runs recorded, number of pitchers used and the number of home runs made. The final score was 26 to 16 in favor of National Mine. The Fallen’s used two reserve pitchers, after the regular twirler was benched, and the National Mine boys called on their second twirler in the fourth inning, after the Nebraska location team scored five runs and stepped in front, 12 to 10.
