Quilting workshop on tap

MARQUETTE — THE Marquette County Quilters Association will present a Sara Doubledee Educational Workshop Sept. 26-28. The guest speaker-Teacher will be Nancy Roelfesema, who will offer a lecture and two-day workshop. The location will be the Negaunee Senior Center, located at 410 Jackson St., Negaunee.

From 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, the lecture is open to all community members who are interested in the art of quilting. No charge or RSVP to attend. “Great Quilting Basics” — The finest poems begin with a a simple grasp of the alphabet, just as the most stunning quilts are crafted from fundamental techniques. Roelfesema will share her techniques and methods for efficient storage of your fabric stash, cutting with unparalleled accuracy, solving issues with fitting blocks, crafting perfect bias strips and so much more. Embrace the art of quilting today.

From 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Sept 27-28, “Winter Blues Quilts” will be presented. A stunning quilt that combines foundation paper pieced blocks with easy quilt as you go sashing.
