Marquette Regional History Center presents: Old Towne Forest Forensics
NEGAUNEE — THE Marquette Regional History Center presents: Old Towne Forest Forensics. The concept of “forest forensics” was coined by Tom Wessels and means to look for clues on land to understand human, climatic and geologic actions that shaped a forest.
MRHC is partnering with Michigan State University Extension’s Forestry and Natural Resources educator, Anna Ellis, to take a hike at Old Towne in Negaunee.
Once a neighborhood, the “caving grounds” are now a forest with a fascinating past.
There will be two tours on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Meet at Jackson Mine Park Pavilion. Pre-registration is required and tickets are on sale now. The cost is $10 per ticket with a maximum 25 people per tour. For more info visit marquettehistory.org or call 906-226-3571.
