ISHPEMING — A west end photographer whose work has appeared numerous times in The Mining Journal took home several awards from a recent photography competition at the Upper Peninsula State Fair in Escanaba.
Victoria Frailing of Ishpeming entered four photos into the competition with all four being placed and one receiving the Grand Champion ribbon. The Grand Champion ribbon was for a photo of her dog, Archie William, who she adopted from a local shelter. The other photos were nature pictures that also placed first and a third.
“My passion for taking photos all started when my grandfather, William Frailing, who passed away in 2023 and I inherited his camera. Since then, my love for photography has grown stronger,” said Frailing, 26. “I am a self-taught photographer. I am very passionate and I have a very keen eye for detail when it comes to nature photos.”
So keen an eye that Frailing has been called the Nature Whisperer of the U.P.
Frailing’s work can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
