MARQUETTE — Fresh Coast Beauty will present the First Annual Cuts For A Cause Hair Drive, in partnership with Texas Roadhouse, to benefit Children With Hair Loss, a Rockwood, Michigan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The event will take place 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 from at Texas Roadhouse in Marquette.

Children With Hair Loss provides free human hair replacements to children and young adults experiencing medically-related hair loss due to cancer treatments, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns and other conditions. September is both Alopecia Awareness Month and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, making this the perfect opportunity to give back.

Licensed cosmetologists will be providing free haircuts outside Texas Roadhouse for anyone donating a minimum of 8 inches of hair (virgin, color-treated and gray hair accepted). Donors are asked to arrive with freshly washed, damp hair. Each donor will also receive a personalized certificate of appreciation.

The event will also feature:

• Girly Pop Dirty Soda from 4-6 p.m.

• Plant and Seed Swap hosted by Plant Daddy Ashley 5-7 p.m.

• Fresh Coast Beauty Cosmetics Pop-Up Shop

• Hair tinsel and colorful extension pieces, with proceeds donated

• Hair Product Swap Table – Bring in what you don’t use, take what you want to try

• There will also be prizes and giveaways

To further support the cause, Texas Roadhouse will host a Dine to Donate from 3-8 p.m., donating a portion of every meal ticket to Children With Hair Loss.

Organizers are still looking for more licensed cosmetologists willing to donate their services for haircuts at the event. This is a great opportunity for local stylists and salons to showcase their skills, connect with the community and give back to children in need.
