MARQUETTE – The Marquette school board on Monday approved several school meal price increases and appointed Daniel Gannon as assistant principal and teacher at Graveraet Middle School. Now the assistant principal of Father Marquette Middle School, Gannon replaces Barbara Ojibway, who is now principal of Parkview Elementary School. Ojibway replaced Parkview principal John Arenz, who retired in June after 39 years as an educator in the district. Elementary school lunch prices increased to $1.10 from $1. Middle school lunches rose to $1.25 from $1.10. Adult and staff lunch prices increased to $2.25 from $2. All other meal prices will stay the same.

MARQUETTE – Sergeant First Class Robert Belanger, Marquette, was chosen the outstanding soldier in the 107th Engineer Battalion (Infantry) of the Michigan National Guard. Belanger is a member of the Headquarters Company, Ishpeming. Belanger was selected from a field of over 300 men as the best engineer soldier of the 107th Engr. Battalion and was awarded the Lt. Col. William F. Milford Trophy for this accomplishment. He is communications chief of the battalion and is in charge of all radio and telephone communications. He is employed by the Dictaphone Corp. as its service representative in the Upper Peninsula. Balanger and his wife, Francine, and four children make their home on Lakewood Lane in Marquette.
