Guided tours now available at Finnish American Heritage Center
HANCOCK — The Finnish American Heritage Center provides patrons an immersive experience in Finnish-American and Finnish history and culture, and some visitors this summer can enjoy this immersion – with an added bonus.
Beginning at 11 a.m. today and continuing each Thursday at 11 through the fall color season, the FAHC will offer guided tours, giving visitors an inside look at Finnish American history, culture, and contemporary life through the exhibits and displays in the Center. Tours will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not required, though groups of eight people or more are encouraged to call North Wind Books (906-487-7217) in advance of their anticipated visit to ensure their tour guide is properly prepared for a larger audience. There is no admission fee for the tours; donations are appreciated.
The tours will also be offered at 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month, again through the fall color season. Walk-in, self-guided visits are also welcomed at any time during normal business hours – 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
The Finnish American Heritage Center is at 435 Quincy Street in downtown Hancock. Operating since 1990 as the premiere center for Finnish-American and Finnish cultural preservation and promotion in the United States, the FAHC has been owned since 2023 by Finlandia Foundation National.
