Candidate filings for city commission, BLP, due July 22

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Clerk’s Office is accepting nomination packets for city elective positions available in the upcoming election year. Interested candidates must submit their completed packets by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22.

This election cycle, voters will select one member for the Marquette Board of Light and Power and two commissioners for the Marquette City Commission. These positions will be contested in the General Election on Nov. 4.

Nominating documents, including petition forms, are available for collection at the city clerk’s office located at 300 W. Baraga Ave. Alternatively, candidates may download the forms at www.marquettemi.gov/candidatefilings.

Per the eligibility requirements of the Marquette City Charter, each candidate must have been a registered voter of the city of Marquette for at least one year prior to filing and may not be in default to the City.
