Lots going on at NPL in July

NEGAUNEE — The people who manage the Negaunee Public Library have put together a lengthy list of July activities for anyone visiting the venerable outlet.
For example, the library knitting group meets at 1 p.m. every Wednesday at the library. Crocheters, knitters, and others interested in fiber arts are welcome to bring their projects and enjoy fellowship. Here is a listing of special events in July:
• As part of the Negaunee Public Library’s “Readers Dozen Reading Challenge,” the library is hosting an optional book club for all participants at 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. • The library is holding a kids’ craft time at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2. Kids ages 5-12 will create salt dough pinch pots at this hands-on crafting session. All supplies will be provided. • The library will hold a Bubble Pop Tot Hour at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7. It will be a bubbly good time with family-friendly pop music, bubbles of all sizes, and a variety of sensory activities to try. This event is designed for ages 0-3 with their caregivers. • The library will hold a book-signing session for several regional authors from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, as part of Pioneer Days. Authors include Negaunee native Adam Dompierre (mystery), bestselling author Sue Harrison (historical fiction, children’s books), historian Tyler Tichelaar and for the first time, Wisconsin author Joshua Chadd (action/Christian fiction). • The librar holding a kids’ craft time at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Kids ages 5-12 will make snap bracelets at this hands-on crafting session. All supplies will be provided. The Negaunee Public Library is offering a special crafting evening from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15. Join journalling enthusiast Mary Harris in creating junk journals using repurposed materials. • The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum will present “Cold-Blooded Classification” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Negaunee Public Library. The public is invited to attend this free event, and it is suitable for all ages. • The library is offering a Building Storytime at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18. Children ages 3 years and older are welcome to listen to a story or two and be inspired to build with LEGOs and other blocks.
