Hearing for proposed rezoning open to public
NEGAUNEE — The public is invited to provide input on an ordinance amendment to the city of Negaunee’s zoning map.
At 6:30 p.m. on June 12, residents can come and share their thoughts on the Ordinance Amendment to the Zoning Map #156.031. The official zoning map would change as part of the ordinance amendment.
“An applicant has requested a parcel they own in the city to be rezoned, (and) the applicant would like the property to be zoned business rather than residential,” said David Nelson, Planning and Zoning Administrator for the City of Negaunee, in an email to the Mining Journal.
The official announcement refers to changing the following property from R2 to B2: Lots 10,11,12,13,14 & 15 Blk 2 Of Pioneer Iron Co’s 2ND Add 0.904281 Acres. This is the legal description of the property that would be rezoned from residential to business.
The public hearing will be held at the Negaunee Senior Center, located at 410 Jackson St., to secure citizen input.
