68th Annual Kiawanis Club BBQ this weekend

MARQUETTE – This weekend marks the annual Marquette Kiwanis Club Chicken Barbecue held on Sunday, June 8, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Arena. This nearly 70-year-old Marquette tradition will raise money to support community projects and sponsor organizations.

The Kiwanis Club of Marquette is a volunteer service organization that is dedicated to serving the Marquette community and supporting programs to develop exceptional youth.

Some of the more notable programs of the Superiorland Kiwanis include hosting a a free community Christmas dinner; sponsoring the Marquette Senior High School Athletes of the Month and Athletes of the Year; poinsettia deliveries to shut-ins; Valentine’s Day carnation distribution to nursing homes, volunteering for community events; labor support for many community building projects; and financial sponsor of many youth development programs.

Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online before the event or in person at the event.

Club official Nicholas Emmendorfer also says the club is looking to gain more members.

The Kiawanis Club’s mission is to serve the community and support program that develop exceptional youth. The Kiwanis club of Marquette is a service organization dedicated to serving the Marquette community and supporting the youth of our area. This group meets every Thursday at 7 a.m. at the Big Boy restaurant in Marquette and the public is free to join and meet with the group members.
