ALUMET – Built at the turn of the century, the Calumet Theatre is one of the few remaining landmarks of the cultural and entertainment scene during the heyday of copper mining in Keweenaw. The theater has undergone numerous renovations and remodelings since it was built, all in hopes of bringing it back to its original look. A local group of theater board members and residents have formed a committee, the Friends of the Calumet Theatre, and are now working on restoring the proscenium arch in the historic building.
