ESCANABA – What once housed thousands of books will soon house a family. The Escanaba City Council has approved sale of the Carnegie Library for $63,813 to Paul and Marcia Neumeier of Gladstone. The Escanaba Public Library will leave the facility this fall and move to the new city hall/library complex on Ludington Street. The Neumeiers plan to convert the building into a private residence. The couple’s original proposal, submitted in late December, called for a daycare facility in the lower floor and business offices on the upper floor. Building plans include transforming the 7,960-square-foot structure into a 3-bedroom, 2 ½ bath home.

Two were located on the Noyoh shore and one in the vicinity of Siskiwit Bay. Postupalsky said he has found only 80 active bald eagle nests in all of Michigan.
