ISHPEMING – Ishpeming fifth grader Rebecca Goulette has been named the grand prize winner in the fifth and sixth grade category of the Michigan Dental Association and Proctor & Gamble statewide coloring contest. From over 200 entries received for fifth and sixth graders, Goulette’s picture was chosen as the grand prize winner. She received an art easel with supplies such as paper, paint, markers, and a rubber stamp kit. The contest was conducted in honor of the National Children’s Dental Health Month in February.

MARQUETTE – One record was set and the weather pulled some funny tricks in April. For example: snow depth on the first day of the month was the greatest amount on the ground in any April on record. And, paradoxically, maximum temperature on the second to last day of the month was the warmest April reading in a decade. The temperature was 83 on April 29 – highest to date this year and highest in fact since last August. On the other hand, the minimum on the same day was a chilly 46 degrees and the day before the mercury had dipped to 24.

Starting at $3.23/week.
