MARQUETTE – For the 14th year in a row, Marquette has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation, and the city has declared Friday as Arbor Day in Marquette. The day will be observed with a tree planting, which has been scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Pocket Park on the 100 block of West Washington Street. Marquette has also received a Tree City USA Growth Award for demonstrating progress in its community forestry program by undertaking a strict tree inventory and establishing a computerized tree-management system.
