ESCANABA — At approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Escanaba Public Safety responded to a report of a fence on fire at 534 North 19th St. 

While units were en route to the fire, Delta County Central Dispatch updated responding personnel that the fire had spread and the adjacent garage was now involved. 

The fire was doused before the garage could become fully engulfed, thanks to the rapid response of officers and immediate access to water upon arrival to the scene. Responding personnel taking swift action prevented further property damage and potential spread of the fire to nearby structures. 

Escanaba Public Safety wishes to thank the alert citizens who called 911, allowing for a timely response and assisting with hoses on scene. They would also like to thank Delta County Central Dispatch for their communication and coordination during the incident. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
