Memorial Day activities set
MARQUETTE — The Richard M. Jopling American Legion Post 44 will have two services on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, to honor the women and men who sacrificed their lives for this country.
A 9:30 a.m. service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, followed by at 10:15 a.m. service at Park Cemetery. The Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 380, VFW Post 6, DAV, Sons of Civil War, Marquette Elks Ritual Team, Post 44 Auxiliary, Local Scouts along with Jill Weingarten (singer) and Steve Krook (taps) will assist at these services.
Light snacks and refreshments will be served at post 44 following the 10:15 a.m. service.
U.S. flags will be placed on all veteran graves at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 at Park Cemetery and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at Holy Cross Cemetery. We welcome all those that would like to come out an assist.
