Butterfly bonanza and native plant sale planned
MARQUETTE — On Saturday, May 24, a butterfly bonanza and native plant sale is planned at the MooseWood Nature Center in Marquette. A presentation is scheduled for 11 a.m. while the plant sale will run from noon-2 p.m.
U.P. Native Plants will present Butterfly Bonanza: Native Plants for U.P. Moths and Butterflies. The presentation will discuss the importance of moths and butterflies both as pollinators and as components of the local food chain; why what we plant matters to local moths and butterflies; and specific pairings of native plants for U.P. moths and butterflies.
A “pop-up” plant sale to benefit the nature center will follow the presentation. Native plants provide for bees, butterflies and birds and will add beauty to your home and garden.
Wildflowers, woodland plants, grasses, and more will be available. Plants are containerized in roomy quart pots for the sale. No early-bird sales, please.
