Birds and Brews set for Saturday
MARQUETTE — The Laughing Whitefish Bird Alliance and the MI Birds program invite the public to the third annual Birds and Brews event at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ore Dock Brewing Company, 114 W. Spring St. in Marquette.
The event includes a free drink for attendees, a bird nerd trivia game styled after the Jeopardy game show and door prizes furnished by MI Birds and local businesses.
The bird trivia game pits four large teams in a spirited contest over who can score the most points based on their knowledge of bird identification and bird trivia. Come join in the fun–whether you are a bird nerd or not.
There will be a brief presentation on the MI Birds program, an education and outreach program from Audubon Great Lakes and Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Immediately following, attendees will have a chance to play two rounds of bird-related trivia with MC Steve Waller, LWBA member. Children and adults alike can enjoy coloring bird-themed coloring pages.
MI Birds is a public outreach and education program created by Audubon Great Lakes and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Birders and hunters share similar conservation values, but rarely cross paths. MI Birds aims to bridge the divide and increase and deepen the number of Michiganders engaged in the understanding, care, and stewardship of public lands that are important for birds and communities.
The Laughing Whitefish Bird Alliance, founded in 1992, represents birders from Marquette and Alger Counties. LWBA engages in a variety of community involvement, including monthly programs, field trips, breeding bird surveys, and bird counts.
