Symphony orchestra to perform
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Symphony Orchestra will present its season finale, “Festive Folk,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Kaufman Auditorium. This event will blend classical music with the spirited energy of Celtic traditions, making for an unforgettable evening.
The program features two extraordinary works:
Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich – A lively and jubilant piece that showcases the orchestra’s brilliance and energy.
Symphony No. 2 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Known as the “Little Russian” Symphony, this masterpiece draws inspiration from Russian folk themes, brimming with melodic charm and dramatic intensity.
Adding a special dimension to the evening, the MSO will welcome The Knockabouts, a high-energy Celtic band that brings music to life across geographical boundaries and centuries.
Known for their vibrant performances and infectious enthusiasm, The Knockabouts will collaborate with the orchestra to create a truly unique celebration of folk-inspired music.
