ISHPEMING — Department of Natural Resources firefighters today returned to the scene of a stubborn brush fire that has apparently been burning for two days in a remote area of north Marquette County. The fire was reported by a private pilot about 6:25 p.m. in hilly, rocky terrain south of the Redd Road and north of the Dead River Basin. The Ishpeming Township Fire Department searched for the fire for about three hours Tuesday night before it was located. The fire is not spreading rapidly because of the sandy, rocky terrain, officials said..

MARQUETTE — Several prominent drug officials will be in Marquette next Tuesday to take part in the third annual convention program of the Upper Peninsula division of the Michigan Pharmaceutical association. More than 100 reservation for the convention have been received up to yesterday and it is expected more than 250 will be here for the meeting. The convention will be open Tuesday morning at the Hotel Northland with registration and business session will be held in the afternoon. Special entertainment has been arranged for women visitors.
