NEGAUNEE — Robert T. Peters, an administrator from Bakersfield California has been named the new principal of the Negaunee Middle School. Peters replaces Robert Trebilcock, a seven-year veteran administrator who asked to be reassigned to teaching within the district. Peters, a Marquette native, will begin his new duties Aug. 15. Peters spent six years as a middle school teacher, four years as an assistant principal in Bakersfield.

MARQUETTE — Five graduates of Northern Michigan University will be recipients of “outstanding alumnus” awards at the summer school commencement at 2 pm tomorrow afternoon in Kaye Auditorium at NMU. The awards, given in conjunction with Northern’s Arts Recognition Year, recognize outstanding achievements in fine and practical arts.
