NEGAUNEE — For its final concert of the season, the Negaunee City Band has a special treat for its audience – a second annual evening of circus music. The concert will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vista Theatre in Negaunee. Guest conductor for the concert will be Robert B. Hills Jr. of Delaware Ohio, who conducted the same music in June in Corydon, Indiana for the Windjammers Circus Band. The program will begin with several center ring concert numbers including marches by KK King and R. Paul Harper. The circus routine will be presented by ringmaster announcer Mike Ludlum of WLUC TV 6.

IRON MOUNTIAN — Professor P.S. Lucas, associate professor of dairy manufacturing, Michigan State College, will be in the Upper Peninsula the week of Aug. 12 and will conduct the first of the three Upper Peninsula butter scoring contents (which is a part of the Michigan butter scoring contest program) in Iron Mountain on Tuesday, August 14, at 12:30 at the city hall. There are 11 butter makers representing 11 creameries in the Upper Peninsula, who are participating in the Michigan scoring contest, which is sponsored by the dairy department of Michigan State College.
