WATERSMEET — One state fish hatchery in the Upper Peninsula and three downstate will be taken out of production by the end of next year. Conservation director Ralph A. MacMullan, Lansing, yesterday announced that the Watersmeet hatchery in Gogebic County and Lower Peninsula hatcheries at Paris, Grayling, and Benton Harbor will be discontinued in keeping with recommendations made in the “new look” fisheries management program adopted by the conservation commission last month.

NEGAUNEE — Gary Bath, a Negaunee student at Northern Michigan University, will be featured in a vocal solo. “Moon River,” when the Negaunee City Band presents at 7:30 Thursday night at the municipal band shell. Under the direction of Lawrence T. Nylander, the band will play a medley of selections from “Oklahoma,” and a group of Irving Berlin waltzes, rounding out the program will be a samba “Copa Cobana..”
