MARQUETTE — the newly formed Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee will organize Thursday, May 12 when it elects officers and establishes a meeting schedule. The Marquette City Commission created the committee last September to oversee the maintenance and future plans for the park. Members of the committee include Francis Bleckiner, Anne Frazier, Gail Griffith, Greg Hokans, John Rebers, Howard Wilson, Lon Emerick, Angie Gingras, Rita Hodgins, Fred Huffman, William Robinson and alternate David Boyd. The committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the city commision chambers at city hall.

ISHPEMING — Residents of Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming have been invited to a special free program on Manual heart compression to be presented at 8 p.m., May 12, at the Birchview School in Ishpeming. Sigurd O. Nelson, 120 W. Crescent St.,, Marquette chairman of the Marquette County Heart Unit, said the program will be presented by his unit in cooperation with the Marquette-Alger County Medical Society. Several physicians to be selected from the medical society will be present to demonstrate manual heart compression and to answer questions. Part of the discussion will be devoted to mouth-to-mouth breathing. A film on life saving called “Pulse of Life” will be shown. “Every parent with small children has a moral obligation to attend this meeting,” said Nelson.
