ISHPEMING — A large brick storm water pipe collapsed, which has closed Second Street between High and North streets in the city of Ishperming.

“The area is closed off and we ask that people avoid the area. We are currently assessing how it is going to impact the roadway, as well as the remainder of the line,” said Craig Cugini, Ishpeming city manager. “The city has already engaged with engineers and contractors to determine repairs and availability, which will be complicated by the upcoming rain forecast for the area.”

As more information becomes available, the city will issue additional statements.
