Lake Superior Knitters to meet at history center

MARQUETTE — Summer meetings will continue with the Lake Superior Knitters at the Marquette Regional History Center.

The next meeting is from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the MRHC on 145 Spring St., Marquette.

Members will discuss entering items in the Marquette County Fair in August.

These summer meetings are an ideal time for students to begin knitting alongside friends, parents or grandparents. Knitters of all ages and levels of experience are welcome.

Issues with knitting patterns are best solved together, according to the Lake Superior Knitters. Members often team up to resolve the issue and help each other become better knitters together. Some members crochet as well.

Those who are new to knitting should bring a 24-inch circular needle size 7 and a skein of yarn, preferably avoiding darker colors.

A donation of $1 to $5 is made to the museum by members per meeting to support its collection of fiber arts created by local women.

Donations to the museum also support the Lake Superior Fiber Festival, the next of which will be October 2025.
