The Marquette School Board approved salary increases for its top administrators this week. The school board president said the raises make the administrators’ salaries comparable to salaries for similar positions in other districts. Stuart Skauge, president of the Marquette Area Teachers Association, said the raises are a sign of the district’s improving financial situation.

Leonardo da Vinci as a musician will be the topic of Emanual Winternitz, an internationally known educator, art historican and music writer. Curator of musical collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Winternitz is an American musiologist of Austrian birth. Since 1948, he has written a number of articles on the history of musical instruments.
