Seventh annual Spread Goodness Day Friday

MARQUETTE– Friday marks the seventh annual Spread Goodness Day, an event that encourages individuals, schools and other organizations to join together and spread goodness.

The Spread Goodness website states, “Did you know that performing acts of kindness, or even just witnessing kindness, creates oxytocin, which reduces blood pressure and makes you feel more loving and loved? It also reduces stress, anxiety and depression.”

The goals of this event as listed on the Spread Goodness website are to overwhelm the world with good deeds, engage with young kids, to support nonprofits and finally to recognize and celebrate the good in people.

The Spread Goodness website lists some things to achieve these goals: “What do you do for Spread Goodness Day? Throw on some shades and (do) something good! To whoever you want, however you want and to whatever extreme you want. Celebrate goodness in your unique, do-gooder ways. Volunteer, buy a coffee, donate a car, surprise a friend with flowers, host your own event. Anything good, goes!”

It states that over the past six years of having this event, millions of acts of goodness throughout the United States and the World have had good deeds done that were inspired by Spread Goodness Day. This year, though, the Spread Goodness website lists a special message, “For 2024, our message is clear: The future IS bright and we are all gonna need shades!” To find more information on this event, or to find the Spread Goodness on social media platforms, go to its webiste at www.spreadgoodnessday.com.
