MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School thespians will perform “Veronica’s Room” 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marquette Senior High Schools Little Theater as a fund-raiser for their upcoming trip to a state drama competition. “Veronica’s Room,” the MSHS entry directed by Shirley Smith, received a “superior” rating at the District High School Drama Competition Jan. 29 which was hosted by the Forest Roberts Theater at Northern Michigan University. The rating advanced them to the state drama finals competition hosted by Central Michigan University Feb. 18-19.

ESCANABA — Michigan’s Upper Peninsula was reported today in a favorable competitive position in the markets of the Midwest for forest products. The report was given by the Upper Peninsula Committee on Area Problems from a study made by Robert Mason Associates under a grant from the Area Redevelopment Administration. It said transportation costs give the area an advantage over wood industries in the South, Northwest and New England.
