Rock and mineral club session set

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will be meeting on Sunday at 1:30 pm at the Cliff Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid Street in Ishpeming.

Local Historian and Archaeologist, Jim Paquette will present the findings of the “Incredible Multi-Year Archaeological Excavation of the Goose Lake Outlet #3 Site; an extremely rare early to mid-1600’s Ojibwa winter hunting camp.”

This site produced the oldest assemblage of European/French trade/gift items ever professionally excavated in the state of Michigan.

The doors will open at 1 p.m. to allow members and visitors time to bid on silent auction specimens and to view the club’s mineral collection. Jim will begin his presentation at 1:30 p.m.

A door prize drawing, a 50/50 drawing and a business meeting will follow the program.

Everyone is welcome to attend, enjoy, and learn about the wonders of rocks and minerals. There is no admission charged..
