NEGAUNEE — MARQUETTE – Marquette city commissioners will tour the vacant Fire Hall No. 2 and review recommended renovations at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 7. The commission voted Nov. 9 to reopen the hall despite a recommendation from an independent consulting firm that it remain closed. The hall was closed nearly a year ago when an electrical fire damaged one wall and a small portion of the roof. The commission voted last summer to keep it closed, but the decision was reversed by a newly seated commission in November. The station is at the intersection of Prospect and North Front streets. Sunberg, Carlson, and Associates Inc., of Marquette assessed the damage and has given the city a $107,000 estimate for repairs and renovations.
