MARQUETTE -- Marquette Maritime Museum's Maritime History on Tap lecture series presents Roger LeLievre, editor and publisher of Know Your Ships, at 7 p.m. on Jan. 2, , at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. Know Your Ships is an annual guidebook on the boats of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, It contains essential boat stats such as length, year built, and owners for all types of ships from ore freighters to cruise ships and tugs. Roger took over Know Your Ships in 1995. "From humble beginnings in 1959," Roger said, "the annual Know Your Ships guide has evolved into much more than just a ship directory. It has become a gateway for many into a rewarding hobby and a catalyst for many lifelong friendships among those who love the lakers." Roger's program, Hitchin' a Ride, will discuss the guidebook and life on freighters with images taken during some of Roger's many trips on the boats. The cost is a $5 donation at the door.
