New at Peter White Public Library

We recently got some great new Teen Graphic Novels in the Teen Zone; here are a few of them!

Crumbs by Danie Stirling

Imagine a bakery where you could find treats and teas with magic to help your dreams come true. Ray, quiet young woman with special powers, stops by almost daily for a hot tea with a side of romance. One day she meets Laurie, the barista with goals of becoming a professional musician, and the two of them start of fall in love without the help of the magic. But with both of them chasing their dreams, and Ray seeing a glimpse of their future, will they be able to figure out what they truly want.

Huda F Cares by Huda Fahmy

The sequels to Huda F Are You?, we see the Fahmys take a vacation to Disney World. Huda and her sisters are thrilled to be surprised with a trip to Disney World, but a 24 hour car ride to Florida and stares from people in the public start to make her realized how different her life is outside of her community. Follow along on their vacation highs and lows as the sisters bond, she meets new friends and learns more about herself.

Brooms by Jasmine Walls

Mississippi, 1930’s, Magic is only allowed in certain circumstances and only by certain people. Unsanctioned broom racing is banned but for those who really need the money they find a way to race. Billie May and Loretta are the start of the Night Storms racing team. They are looking for money to move west were it is legal for them to use magic. Cheng-Kwan is trying her best to be true to herself and be the perfect “son” to her parents. Mattie and Emma are the youngest of the group, and are trying to dodge the government officials who want to send them boarding school, against their will. All 5 characters just want to live their life in peace, and this is their story on how far they are willing to go.

Space Boy Vol 17 by Stephen McCranie

I will say Space Boy is hands down my favorite graphic novel series that I have read and is recommended so many times. Space Boy is the story of Amy, who lives on Mars with her family. After her Dad loses his job, the family must relocate to Earth. Amy says goodbye to her best friend, spends the next 30 years frozen for and starts her journey back to Earth. Over the next 17 volumes, Amy learns to navigate her life on Earth, build new friendships and evens starts to fall in love. I personally cannot wait for the next few volumes to come out!

Courage to Dream: Tales of Hope in the Holocaust by Neal Shusterman

In this beautifully illustrated graphic novel Neal Shusterman brings out five stories of the Holocausts. Each story explores the common theme of resistance and uplift while the tales are woven from Jewish folklore and cultural history.
