MARQUETTE -- Barrel & Beam Brewery in Marquette will host a Violin Art Auction and Performance to benefit the young musicians in December.

Attendees are invited to the event from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17.

The auction will feature a small fleet of beyond-repair violins, cellos and antique cases that have been reconstructed by select woodworkers, and painter as well as stencil, fiber, and collage artists from the Marquette and Detroit areas.

Pieces will be displayed in the barrel room, hanging from oak barrels where drinks are being brewed.

Alongside their local musician elders, a handful of musical changemakers ages 4-15 will play violin and cello. They are from a new Marquette Youth Volume studio run by Clara Hardie, according to a press release.

For those who wish to attend and bid virtually, the entire event will be livestreamed on www.youthvolume.org/donate.

Donations will benefit Youth Volume's Equitable Tuition Fund so we can continue making quality music education accessible and equitable for families in Marquette and Detroit.
