The people of Superiorland

Sarah Vanden Bossche taking a break from using her flow toy at the 2023 Summer’s End Smokeout in August in Republic. She moved to Marquette three years ago for school and she does not see herself leaving anytime soon. “Something unique about Marquette that I have fallen in love with is the amazing community we have here,” Bossche said. “Through my participation and involvement in the Marquette Farmers Market, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful and supportive humans.” Readers may know Bossche from her business, Sacred Vibrations. She makes one-of-a-kind macramé jewelry pieces that she sells at the Marquette Farmers Market and from her online store, sacredvibrationsss.square.site/s/shop. “Next season if you find yourself picking up some fresh and local produce, pop by and say hi,” Bossche said. Another reason for Bossche’s gratitude in the community is from the “amazing appotunities it (the city) creates.” “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing a member of the Marquette Fringe, who leads the group The Lucid Fyrë Bellators,” she said. “We meet regularly to dance with various flow toys, and it was here that I played for fire for the first time.” While Bossche was nervous at first, she said, she ultimately knew that Fall Phantasm was an event she “had to be a part of.”“While dancing with fire is still very new to me, it’s a passion I’m so excited to explore,” Bossche said. “I can’t wait for next year, as working side-by-side with such a talented bunch of people is truly inspiring.” (Photo courtesy by Damon Palovaara)
