Global Fair Trade Market offered

MARQUETTE — Messiah Lutheran Church’s Global Fair Trade Market will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 in the church atrium.

There will be dairly traded items and goods for sale from SERRV International; Sharing the Dream in Guatemala; Colombia; Tanzania; Haiti; and Peru. They will also be holding a bake sale this year to raise funds for shipping of the goods.

When something is fairly traded, it means that the farmers, producers, and artisans are provided with a sustainable income and good working conditions.

In addition, fair trade also works to protect the environment through waste management, by improving soil/water quality, and in many other ways.

In consciously choosing items that are fairly traded, know that you are endorsing an economic system that provides more opportunity for the producers, artisans, and farmers and are improving their lives in the process.

For more information, contact the Messiah church office at 225-1119. Messiah Lutheran Church is at 305 W. Magnetic St., Marquette.
