Woodturners bring guest
MARQUETTE — Steve Loar is a sculptor in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who uses wood, especially wooden bowls, to create abstracted compositions that are typically colorful and narrative.
Thirty-six years of university teaching gives him a depth of expertise in design, creativity, collaboration and woodworking. His teaching methods recognize multiple learning styles and an understanding of the anxieties related to learning design, providing a solid foundation for the creation of beautiful and unique pieces of art.
He will be holding workshops on Thursday and Friday for the members of the Superiorland Woodturners Club and Northern Michigan University students.
On Saturday, he will give a presentation in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The public is invited and there is no charge. These programs are made possible by the Superiorland Woodturners chapter of the American Association of Woodturners.
