Maggie Solomon was painting a live model in her Advanced Drawing/Painting class at Northern Michigan University.

“My cousin went to school here and when he brought me up here to show me the school I fell in love with it,” she said. “I fell in love with the lake and how beautiful it was…I’ve been here for a couple years now and I still love it.”

Now, Solomon is an Art and Design major with a concentration in drawing and painting. When not at school or painting at how, she loves to hike in her spare time.

“I’m really excited for autumn, for the trees to change so I can see all the beautiful colors and go on some fall hikes,” Solomon said. Her favorite hiking location is at Wetmore Pond. (Journal photo by Alexandria Bournonville)
